Sam graduated from University College London with a BSc in Neuroscience, and from the University of Manchester with an MSc in Science and Technology Policy. Sam has built a particular interest and experience in futures and foresight planning, developing expertise in policy assessment and evaluation techniques.

He has recently been involved in an evaluation of Carbon Footprinting techniques in large construction projects comparing a range of calculation rationales to develop a rigorous strategy capable of meeting the demands of the national climate change agenda.

Key project experience includes an extensive foresight exercise focused on the future of UK housebuilding in which economic, political, social, environmental, and technological dimensions are being integrated through a range of mixed-method techniques, to develop future scenarios for 2017.

In addition to this project Sam has been involved in an extensive investigation of plant maintenance processes in the US and Canadian machine tool industry incorporating interviews concerned with the specific experience of key stakeholders in these markets.

Most recently Sam has lead an evaluation of the impact of a teacher orientated professional development programme run by TWP (TyneWear Partnership) and TWEBLO (Tyne Wear Education Business Link Organisation) aimed at providing teachers with skills to be more innovative, creative, and resourceful in their development and delivery of teaching. Ultimately the results will be framed within local, regional and national dimensions of the ‘Creativity Agenda’.
