James graduated from University of Durham with a BSc in Geography, environment and development; concluding with a study of community engagement strategies and delivery.

At Wood Holmes, James has further expanded upon his studies, gaining particular expertise in regeneration concepts and communications management, transferring a range of strategic plans into ‘on the ground’ delivery, in communities for public, private and non-profit sector clients.

Developing upon several activities including stakeholder and communications management, engagement programmes, project feasibility, capacity building and programme delivery, James has interacted deeply with stakeholders and communities through a range of innovative techniques including; planning for real events, public forums, drop in sessions, one on one meetings, open community events, and online communication. Being integrated within the local community has forged underlying relationships which have proved beneficial for both stakeholder and client in the deliverance of large regeneration schemes.

Recent project work has focussed on the delivery of Wood Holmes communication strategies for organisations such as Bouygues Travaux Publics, Parsons Brinkerhoff (Balfour Beatty), Housing Market Renewal. Projects focussed on interaction with residents and key stakeholders, political liaison, media management, managing perceptions of risk, future planning and planning approval support.

James is currently working on the delivery of Wood Holmes community and stakeholder engagement activity on the £260 million New Tyne Crossing construction project.

In December 2006 James received the BURA ‘Bright Sparks’ award, passed by BURA to only 20 UK young professionals to show recognition for excellence in the field of Urban Regeneration.
