Craig has multi-disciplinary marine science and technology background spanning both academic and practical experience. This has proved a valuable link between technical understanding and commercial awareness.
In 2005, after completing his PhD, Craig established S.E.A. consultants to provide environmental business strategy; specialising in the maritime environment. The company rapidly gained a well respected client list of commercial, governmental, academic and charitable organisations.
The success of S.E.A. consultants was recognised by Wood Holmes Group, who acquired the company and employed Craig as Associate Director at the start of 2008. Since this time, Craig has won and worked on specialist marine and coastal projects as well as broader issues of sustainability and stakeholder engagement. He has been involved in projects worth up to £100million, and is currently managing a novel marine R&D project worth £3.6million.
He is also the lead on a novel world’s first coastal development that is heavily focussed on the regeneration and environmental potential of developing multipurpose offshore structures. These projects have strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement to ensure bottom-up approaches of active and ongoing stakeholder involvement.
Craig has close links with a number of academic institutes, including Newcastle University and the Scottish Association for Marine Science. He has published in peer reviewed scientific literature and continues to work on further publications. Furthermore, Craig lectures at Newcastle University in the Schools of Marine Science and Technology, and of Biomedical Science.
